Privacy policy

You don't need an account to use DailySounds, so visitors don't give us their name, email or payment details unless they choose to send a message or sign up for the pack emails. Only creators who upload sounds sign in (with Google). This policy also covers Daily Sounds Publisher, our internal tool for posting videos to YouTube, which uses YouTube API Services.

What we collect

Download counts. When you download a sound, we add one to that sound's download counter and record the time of the download so creators can see their numbers. None of this is linked to you. So a repeat download isn't counted twice, your browser keeps a small cookie listing the sounds it downloaded in the last day, and nothing else.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited and how people find the site. It uses cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location.
Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and file storage provider (Supabase) keep standard technical logs — such as IP address, browser type and the page requested — to run and protect the service.
Kit downloads. When you save a collection's kit (up to 40 of its sounds in one ZIP), we count which kit it was, the file type, the number of sounds and the file size. None of this is linked to you.
Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we keep your email address, your name if you give it, and your message so we can reply and handle your request. If you send in a project for the Made with DailySounds page, we show its title, link and the name you give there, and take it down when you ask.

Pack emails

If you sign up to hear about new free packs, we store your email address, the time you signed up and the page you signed up on. It's kept privately with our file storage provider (Supabase) and used only to email you when a new free sound pack or kit comes out. The emails come from DailySounds, and the service that delivers them gets your address only for that. We don't sell it or share it with anyone else. Since anyone can type in an address, the first email asks you to confirm, and if you don't confirm within 30 days, we delete the address. To get off the list, use the unsubscribe link in any of these emails, or send a request through the contact form from the same address, and we delete it.

Creator accounts

If you sign in as a creator, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We also store what you add: your creator name, handle, bio, website, payout email, the sounds you upload and your notes about them, and when you accepted the creator terms. We use this to run your account, publish and credit your sounds, calculate and pay your earnings, and contact you about your account. Your creator name, handle, bio and website are shown publicly; your email and payout email are not. To delete your creator account and data, send a request through the contact form using the email address you sign in with.

Advertising and cookies

DailySounds shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits.

You can turn off personalized advertising in Google's Ad Settings.
You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, personalized ads are only shown with your consent.

Affiliate links

Some links to other stores are affiliate links, like the Splice links on our tools page and under searches that find nothing. They go through the store's affiliate service (impact.com for Splice), which adds a code to the link and may set a cookie, so the store knows you came from DailySounds and can pay us a commission if you sign up or buy. We see how many clicks and sales came from our links, not your name, email or payment details. You can block or clear these cookies in your browser.

YouTube API Services

DailySounds uses YouTube API Services in two places: the embedded YouTube player on some category pages, and Daily Sounds Publisher, the internal tool we use to post our own videos to the Daily Sounds YouTube channel with the YouTube Data API. By using these features you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy (https://www.google.com/policies/privacy).

Embedded videos. Some category pages can show a long Daily Sounds video, such as hours of brown noise or haunted-house ambience. The player only loads after you press play and uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. DailySounds doesn't receive or store anything about what you watch.

Daily Sounds Publisher. Only the DailySounds team uses this tool, on our own computer, signed in with the Google account that manages our channel. Visitors never sign in to it, and it never accesses anyone else's YouTube account or data.

What it accesses: with the permissions the channel owner grants (upload videos and view the YouTube account), it reads our channel's ID and name to confirm it is posting to the right channel, uploads our own original sound-effect videos with the title, description and visibility we choose, and reads back the status of those videos.
What it stores: the Google authorization token, in a file only our computer account can read, and a publishing log of the videos it uploaded (video ID, title, visibility and time). It refreshes this stored YouTube data from YouTube at least every 30 days or deletes it.
What it doesn't do: it doesn't collect viewer, subscriber, comment or analytics data, never asks for or stores Google passwords, and doesn't sell or share YouTube data with anyone. It shows no ads and doesn't set cookies.
Revoking access: the channel owner can revoke Daily Sounds Publisher's access at any time on the Google security settings page at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions, in addition to disconnecting it in the tool itself. When access is revoked or can no longer be renewed, the tool deletes its stored token and the YouTube data it saved within 7 days.
Deleting stored data: send a request through our contact form and we'll delete the data Daily Sounds Publisher stores within 7 days. That doesn't delete anything on YouTube; to remove a video from YouTube, use YouTube Studio.

Players on other sites

Other websites can show a DailySounds player for a sound. The player is loaded from our site, sets no cookies and has no ads or analytics. The sound only loads when you press play. Our hosting provider's standard logs (above) still apply to it.

Data stored on your device

The DailySounds app page saves your favorites and recently played sounds in your browser's local storage. That data stays on your device and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.

Children

DailySounds isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
