How I Make Sound Effects

How I record, and why

“I have a Rode microphone, and then I bought a Tascam Portacapture and used that one. Just recording sounds whenever I hear something unique or cool or a good sample. Try and record it, get it posted up on the website, on the YouTube channel. Ultimately I love music production, and I wanted to figure out a way I could make money, something in audio, and that's how Daily Sounds was born. I was like, this is cool stuff and I want to have some samples. Well, it wasn't really for money. I just did it because I wanted other people to have these samples that I love using.”

After I record a sound

“After I record a sound, I usually edit it. I crop it, clip it, and then I change some of the tonalities, adjust the EQ a little bit sometimes. If it's a synthetic sound, then you're just messing around with the computer and stuff until you get a good sound.”

How I made the Taser sound

“I had a taser and it was like a flashlight taser, like for police. And I just wanted a sound effect that people could prank each other with. And so I recorded it and put it on YouTube so people could pretend to have a taser and scare each other. And then that's what they did. The comments are popping off. It's good stuff.”

How I made Lighter Flick

“This one was a real doozy. So I got out my handy dandy Portacapture and I flicked the lighter, and it made a noise so beautiful, I couldn't even believe it. It sounded like Lyrical Lemonade just came into my house.”
